My paintings are primarily inspired by nature and my passion for gardening, particularly the cycles of life, death, and decay in plants. While sifting through compost, I often find material that sparks my creativity. As plants break down, their structures change and they disintegrate into soil, which prompts me to explore imagery of plants transforming into something beyond their original form. Some of my works depict plants evolving into anthropomorphic figures with unique narratives. These figures embark on adventures, such as vacations or fishing trips, and even transcend into spiritual beings, thriving in alternate realms through resilience and defiance.

Recently, my artwork has also begun to address environmental concerns. Some pieces serve as warnings about the consequences of human actions, specifically the use of fossil fuels and environmental pollution. I incorporate symbols like mops and hammers to illustrate the futility of our attempts to clean up the mess we’ve created; a mop can only absorb so much, just as a hammer can only make so much noise.

In my painting process, I employ thin layers of glazes to create transparency and depth, allowing underlying colors to shine through. I often draw inspiration from my own photographs. The exploration of metaphorical imagery is both daunting and exhilarating, and I aim to tell a beautiful, transcendent, yet believable story through my work.
